Cayman Islands resort changes focus to timeshare market

Divi Tiara Beach Resort in Cayman Brac ceased resort operations as of September 2006

Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA (September 5, 2007) – The Divi Tiara Beach Resort in Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands ceased resort operations for the general public in September 2006, but continues to operate a boutique collection of 12 newly renovated timeshare suites.

“The Divi Tiara has an amazing beach and quiet atmosphere perfect for a timeshare owner looking for an island escape,” says EJ Schanfarber, president of Divi Hotels Marketing Inc. “We want to continue to service the timeshare market, and begin cross-selling timeshare vacations into the Divi Tiara from our other eight Caribbean resorts.”

The one-bedroom suites feature fully equipped kitchens, full ocean views and private balconies, and are located in two unique buildings with classic Polynesian-inspired architecture. Owners of the timeshare suites enjoy diving from a private Divi dock with dive operations provided by In Depth Water Sports.

“While it is no longer financially feasible for Divi to act as a dive resort operator, we do recognize the incredible value of this destination. We intend to shift our focus to the timeshare market and future timeshare development,” says Schanfarber.

Owners of timeshare vacations at the Divi Tiara Beach Resort join a family of more than 30,000 timeshare owners in the Divi Resorts network and enjoy vacation exchange opportunities at Divi Resorts in Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, St Croix and St Maarten.

The Divi Tiara Beach Resort previously operated almost exclusively as a dive vacation destination, with significant group travel from the United States. The resort ceased operations for this market due to the difficulty of getting groups travelling together to and from the island.

Divi Resorts operates eight resorts on five Caribbean islands including the Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort & Casino in St Croix; Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in St Maarten; Divi Southwinds Beach Resort and Divi Heritage Beach Resort in Barbados; Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino in Bonaire; and Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort, Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort and Divi Dutch Village Resort in Aruba. As of the first quarter 2007, Divi Aruba Phoenix Divi Village Golf and Divi Dutch Village Beach Resorts in Aruba have been awarded the AAA’s prestigious 3 Diamond Rating. From relaxing on white sand beaches and indulging in spa services to embarking on amazing scuba diving adventures and trying your luck in the casino, Divi Resorts has it all, and more.
