St Maarten resort closes during September to upgrade facilities
Great Bay Beach Resort to reopen September 30, 2006
Philipsburg, St Maarten (September 5, 2006) – Great Bay Beach Resort, the legendary resort located on Philipsburg’s famed stretch of beach on the Dutch Caribbean island of St Maarten, will close during the month of September to further enhance its facilities by adding select upgrades.
“We like to call it fall housekeeping,” said general manager Renato Moretto. “It’s ideal to use the shoulder season month of September to make some upgrades and gear up for what we expect to be a wonderful winter season!” The resort closed on September 2 and reopens in full swing on September 30, 2006.
In preparation of the upcoming winter season, the resort will undergo improvements both in the front and back of the house. Improvements include a new fire prevention system consisting of in-room hard-wired smoke detectors, floor pull stations and an integrated fire control panel at the front desk; significant upgrades to the air conditioning and hot water systems; installation of a new anti-slip tiled pool deck; a massive investment to completely refurbish the resort’s main kitchen; a new Fidelio front office reservations system; and an overall cosmetic upgrade throughout the resort.
