Coral by Hilton Resorts update

Dominican Republic resorts get a new recreation director, upgrades, refurbishments and new shops

Dominican Republic (September 19, 2006) – All five Coral by Hilton Resorts in the Dominican Republic have been busy this year, refurbishing, opening new shops, appointing new staff and upgrading facilities to continue to make their guests’ vacations fun and unforgettable.

Among the most visible stars on the Coral by Hilton horizon is Daniel Santiago, the group’s new corporate activities and recreation director. From skydiving to walking the Great Wall of China and everything in between, Danny brings his huge appetite for life – and his extensive experience both behind and in front of the scenes in resorts from Spain to Costa Rica to China and the Caribbean – to his new duties at the resort. With his appointment, Coral by Hilton team members will be at the top of their game, and Coral by Hilton guests will enjoy an excellent selection of activities, special programs and special spa packages.

Thanks to the warm, clear waters that surround the Dominican Republic – particularly around Bayahibe – there’s no doubt that scuba diving is one of the most popular activities on the island. In response to this interest, the Canoa Coral by Hilton in conjunction with other Bayahibe properties and local scuba diving centres have put together the Scuba Diving Guide for Bayahibe and the Parque Nacional del Este (National Park of the East). The guide covers not only the best dive sites and the local underwater life, but also includes information on ecological conduct for divers, and touches on environmental protection and safety regulations.

All Coral by Hilton properties are constantly receiving preventative maintenance, with special attention to rooms and restaurants.

In beautiful La Romana, the Canoa Coral by Hilton has added a wok station to the buffet line (a deli station is soon to come, as is another station at the snack bar by the beach), renovated the tennis courts and tiled the outdoor terraces in the penthouse rooms. All rooms have received new blackout curtains and their electronic locks have been maintained. In public areas all the wooden handrails have been replaced and illumination increased. Meeting planners will be happy to know that the conference rooms now boast a universal power supply system. In an effort to make getting around the resort easier for guests, the resort is placing new maps in different areas. The Kid’s Club is also set to undergo a complete refurbishment.

At the Marién Coral by Hilton, guests can light up one of the Dominican Republic’s finest cigars bought at their new cigar shop, or stay in contact with loved ones back home via the computers in the new Internet Centre. Flat-screen TVs now grace the pool bar and Mango’s Bar. Want to work out after hours? The new 24-hour policy at the gym will allow you to do just that! In light of its success, all resorts will soon be following suit.

Sports fans will be happy to know that they won’t be missing out on their favourite games when they vacation at the Hamaca Coral by Hilton in Boca Chica. The resort has added a brand new Sports Bar.

At Costa Caribe, the restaurants and menus have undergone a facelift and a new deli station was installed at the buffet. As guests arrive they are welcomed by a redesigned landscape and three new shops: a gift shop, logo shop and jewellery store. After working out their wallet, guests will want to relax in the now centrally located beauty parlor and massage cabins.
