Club Med opens luxurious Buccaneer’s Creek Resort in Martinique

Non-stop air charters from New York to Fort-de-France allow convenient access for resort guests

Coral Gables, Florida, USA (March 20, 2006) Club Med debuted its new $60 million Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek resort in Martinique, December 2005. The opening of this spectacular resort, set on one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, highlights Club Med’s ongoing global expansion and its commitment to today’s upscale traveller.

Club Med now makes travelling to Martinique hassle free, with new weekly non-stop charter flights from New York City’s JFK International Airport to Fort-de-France, Martinique. Flight passengers arrive at the luxurious Club Med resort in time for lunch. This summer, seven-night air-inclusive rates from New York City to Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek, Martinique start at $1,120 per person.

“Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek allows us to combine the best of both worlds,” says Stephanie Westhoff, a loyal guest who plans to revisit the resort with her husband. “I like lush tropical vacations and my husband, who is European, prefers a destination like France. Club Med in Martinique provides both, in a very convenient and worry-free way.”

The new Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek stands on the site of the original resort which, since opening in 1969, has become legendary in the Americas. The resort redefines vacationing in signature Club Med style with the All-Inclusive offer. New and updated amenities include a 5000-square-foot oceanside infinity-edge pool with massage jets, the Club Med Spa with five treatment rooms, the Club Med Gym with high-tech fitness facilities and a beachside multi-functional entertainment area.

Guests have the option of three new distinct restaurants. The resort’s signature restaurant, La Belle Creole, serves Creole cuisine. The main restaurant, Pays Melés, features buffet-style traditional international cuisine. Guests can also enjoy Le Madou, the resort’s poolside grill.

The 293 completely new rooms, including 44 spacious suites, boast a French Caribbean design fused with sleek, modern details. All accommodations are rich with amenities such as CD players, flat-screen televisions, pillow-top beds with plush bedding and state-of-the-art bathrooms with double vanity areas and deluxe showers.

“The new Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek is born of a unique partnership between Club Med, local organizations and governmental authorities in Martinique,” comments John Vanderslice, president and CEO of Club Med Americas. “The reopening of Buccaneer’s Creek will re-ignite the island’s tourism industry from the US market, as the original Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek did in 1969.”
