Cayman Jazz Fest features internationally acclaimed musicians
Eight-time Grammy winner Natalie Cole to headline the December event
New York, New York, USA (October 13, 2006) – The smooth but soulful voice of eight-time Grammy Award-winner Natalie Cole is sure to please travellers and jazz lovers when she headlines at the 3rd annual Cayman Jazz Fest, held in the Cayman Islands from November 30 to December 2, 2006.
The daughter of celebrated singer and pianist Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole has become one of the most renowned smooth jazz artists of our time. Both her classics and her more recent material garner frequent airtime on jazz radio stations, and she has received a great deal of positive publicity for her impressive eight Grammies. Cole’s new album, “Leavin’”, reveals her soulful roots and inspires listeners through its silky and alluring tracks. Cole’s musical appeal and success has helped her sell more than 30 million albums world wide, and has inspired other artists to follow her lead in combining style and soul.
Internationally acclaimed musicians Kem, Jeffrey Osborne, Boney James and Mike Philips will join the Caribbean’s own Arturo Tappin to perform alongside Cole. “With headline act Natalie Cole and other internationally acclaimed jazz and R&B artists, Jazz Fest 2006 is going to be a great event,” said the Cayman Islands Minister of Tourism, Charles Clifford. “We are confident that jazz fans will seize this opportunity to not only be a part of jazz fest, but also to experience Cayman’s fine dining, incredible beaches and unique culture.”
Jazz Fest commences at the Governor’s Ballroom in the Westin Casuarina Resort with a limited-seating event (tickets $95) featuring an eclectic mix of R&B and smooth jazz performed by Kem and Mike Phillips. At the same event guests can also relax to the rhythms of local band Intransit. Music aficionados can gather on the exclusive Pageant Beach the following evening (tickets $65) to take in the silky sounds of soul artist Jeffrey Osborne and jazz musician Boney James, in addition to a few local bands. Jazz Fest comes to a close on Saturday evening (tickets $65), December 2nd by the sight of the rising moon and the sound of the waves, when guests can savour the notes of Caribbean jazz star Arturo Tappin and eight-time Grammy winner Natalie Cole.
