Bridgetown, Barbados (December 8, 2006) – Delta Air Lines celebrates its first year of operations to Barbados, today, December 8, 2006. As a result of a successful first year to Barbados, the island will receive an additional Sunday service effective February 18, 2007 through April 15, 2007, bringing the number of weekly non-stop Atlanta flights from three to four.
In addition to the non-stop Sunday service, Delta will upgrade to a 757 aircraft with a seating capacity of 183 passengers on the Saturday flights effective February 17 through April 14. The other flights will continue to be operated with a 150-seat 737.
Delta Air Lines recently introduced a Friday service to Barbados, which commenced on November 17, 2006. The airline currently operates Thursday, Friday and Saturday service to Barbados. The introduction of the new Sunday service will provide opportunities to tap into the honeymoon market more effectively, and will also create better opportunities for five- and six-night packages, as well as long-weekend trips.
