Club Med La Caravelle a family favourite with direct flights from Atlanta, Georgia
(August 17, 2006) - After an estimated $29 million in renovations and upgraded services, the new Club Med La Caravelle in Guadeloupe, West Indies, opens December 16, 2006. Effortless air travel to La Caravelle for families nationwide will also launch mid-December. Effective December 13, Delta Air Lines will add direct flights between Atlanta, Georgia and Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Eleven major gateways and 195 US cities, including New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Montreal, Quebec in Canada offer connecting flights with minimal layover time.
“With the new flights, guests will arrive at La Caravelle around 4 pm – just enough time to enjoy a swim and a cocktail on the beach before sundown,” comments Cedric Gobilliard, Club Med CEO North America. “La Caravelle represents Club Med’s continuing dedication to provide an upscale family experience worldwide.”
Since 2002, Club Med has invested more than $160 million into resorts in the Caribbean and the Americas, including Columbus Isle in The Bahamas, Buccaneer’s Creek in Martinique and Cancun Yucatan in Mexico. La Caravelle in Guadeloupe is the latest resort to undergo renovations.
Located on the breathtaking coast of Guadeloupe since 1971, La Caravelle is a longtime favourite for families, and the winner of accolades, such as the “best resort for travelling with children” from several family-oriented publications. Guadeloupe is renowned for diving and known for its favourable winds for sailing, pristine beaches and decidedly French culture. Adults and kids alike can partake in many on-site activities, including windsurfing, tennis, kayaking, fitness classes, volleyball and of course, petanque, while soaking in the island’s scenery. La Caravelle’s discovery centre organizes excursions for all ages to explore Guadeloupe.
The resort also boasts a Mini Club Med for ages four to 10 years, and a Junior Club Med for ages 11 to 17 years. Parents can relax and enjoy time together, confident that their children are in the caring hands of expert GOs (Gracious Organizers). Mini Club Med is offered at no additional cost and includes flying trapeze, tennis, soccer, sailing, in-line skating, games, arts & crafts, mini-scientist and more.
La Caravelle’s latest renovations mark the final stage in a process that began in 1998 as part of Club Med’s evolution to create a more upscale, all-inclusive experience at the resort in Guadeloupe. All facilities sport a fresh new look. The main restaurant, L’Hibiscus, and the specialty restaurant, La Biguine, have been expanded, provide unrivalled views of the sea and feature extensive menus of French, international and local dishes. In addition Club Med channeled a large portion of the investment into training programs to upgrade service and hospitality throughout the resort.
This winter, seven-night all-inclusive rates to Club Med La Caravelle start at $1,120 and $1,400 (peak weeks). Seven-night, air-inclusive all-inclusive rates start at $1,950. (Restrictions and conditions apply.) Guests can also personalize their vacation with an array of choices, including luxury room categories, convenient travel arrangements, international cuisine, flexible dining times and exciting entertainment options.
