Divi Resorts update January 2007

News from Divi Resorts in Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, St Croix and St Maarten

Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA (January 10, 2007) – Divi Resorts knows the Caribbean! As the only hotel chain made up entirely of Caribbean resorts, visitors to any of the eight Divi Resorts will quickly realize that they are THE place for a fun in the sun Caribbean vacation. Continuously striving to offer the best possible vacation experience, there’s always something happening at the resorts. Here’s the latest news.

Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in St Maarten, which was recently voted one of the top “Bang For Your Buck” resorts and “Best Family Vacation Resorts” in Caribbean Travel & Life’s Best of the Caribbean Readers’ Choice Awards 2007, has launched renovations of a number of guest rooms and public spaces, and is expanding the resort’s timeshare inventory by approximately $25 million. Renovations, which have already gotten underway, include the complete refurbishment of oceanview suites with new furniture, flooring, soft goods, kitchen cabinets and appliances. Toucans Café and the Sea Breeze Restaurant have been outfitted with new outdoor furniture, and the SeaBreeze Pool deck was resurfaced in Brazilian stone. The resort’s on-site fitness centre has been relocated to a more spacious location and all equipment was replaced.

To accommodate the growing demand for timeshare ownership at Divi Little Bay, the resort has converted its 14 hillside casita units into nine luxury timeshare one-bedroom suites and is converting 36 beachfront hotel rooms into 12 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom timeshare units. The units will feature upgraded amenities, including LCD flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, kitchens with granite countertops, whirlpool tubs and more. The conversion of the hillside casitas was completed December 1, 2006, and the new beachfront suites will be available in 2008.

At Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort in Aruba construction is continuing on a new luxury collection of golf-view suites. Eighty-two golf villas of the projected 240 have been completed and are available for occupancy, with another 52 scheduled to be completed by mid-2007. The Links at Divi Aruba golf course clubhouse is complete and features two new restaurants: the casual Mulligan’s Bar & Restaurant and Window’s on Aruba – a fine-dining restaurant overlooking the ninth hole with full ocean views.

At Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort in Aruba work is continuing on the development project that will more than double the size of the resort once completed. The foundation work is underway and the new building and units are scheduled to open in spring 2008. The development will add 140 suites in four eight-story buildings, each featuring studios, one-bedroom suites and two- and three-bedroom penthouses. The resort currently offers 101 units. The resort will also offer a beach club.

Guest room renovations continue at the Divi Southwinds Beach Resort in Barbados with all 58 pool- and garden-view suites to be remodeled by early 2007. All guest suites will be repainted and will receive new windows, kitchen appliances and furnishings in a light-green and blue tropical theme. Additionally all lobby furniture has been replaced and the timeshare pool deck has been refurbished. On November 1, 2006 Alvin Jemmott took over as general manager of the resort. A 24-year veteran of the Barbados hotel industry and current president of the Barbados Hotel Association, Mr Jemmott will focus on enhancing Divi Southwinds’ total guest experience and further developing the resort’s distinctive amenities and activities.

Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino in Bonaire has announced that its on-site spa, The Touch, has been renovated. The full-service spa offers a range of services from body treatments to manicures, many of which incorporate natural elements of the island, as well as spa packages. The spa also sells jewellery unique to the island. Divi Flamingo has also gone wireless, with free Internet access now available throughout the property.

In 2007 Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort & Casino in St Croix will begin construction of an on-site 18-hole miniature golf course and driving range. The course will complement the resort’s tropical, beachfront feel and will offer six water features and tumbling waterfalls. Divi Carina Bay was also just voted one of the “Best Large Hotels” (150-299 Rooms) in Caribbean Travel & Life magazine’s Best of the Caribbean Readers’ Choice Awards 2007. This is the second time Divi Carina Bay has received this honour – in 2004 readers of the magazine voted the resort one of the best in this category.
