St. Kitts’ taxi driver honored by Princess Cruises
Dr. Elvis recognized for his exemplary service to cruise passengers
Basseterre, St. Kitts (November 3, 2005) – Princess Cruises has recognized one of St. Kitts’ popular taxi drivers for providing exemplary service to their cruise passengers.
Sandy Point-born Elvis Mills, better known as Dr. Elvis of Dr. Elvis Tour/Taxi Service, was presented with a 2004 C.R.U.I.S.E. Service Excellence Recognition Pin and a bottle of wine by Kantours’ quality control officer, Pearlina Sharry, on Wednesday morning.
In a personal letter to Dr. Elvis, a full-time taxi operator since 1993, Princess Cruises’ manager of shore operations, Graham Davis, wrote, “Many of our tour passengers have specifically mentioned your name as providing personalised quality service while you were their tour guide on one of our Adventures Ashore Tours. As emphasised in our C.R.U.I.S.E. Programme, the 'Moment of Truth' is the instant when a Princess passenger comes in contact with you and forms a first impression.” This first impression is typically a lasting one, therefore, this moment of truth has great impact on that passenger’s overall satisfaction with the cruise and tour experience, he continued.
“As a token of our appreciation, please accept the enclosed 2004 C.R.U.I.S.E. Service Excellence Recognition Pin and wear it with pride in the future,” wrote the Princess Cruises official.
“Of course I feel very proud. It is for me not only a personal achievement, but also a recognition that the tourism industry in St. Kitts is moving in the right direction,” said Dr. Elvis in an interview with the Communications Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister. “It is an indication that we as taxi drivers can deliver a product of quality service to our passengers who come to our shores.”
