Jamaican super-inclusive resort’s Best of Jamaica festival celebrates Jamaica’s culture

Grand Lido Braco Resort & Spa offers packages from $1,863 per couple for their October event

Hollywood, Florida, USA (June 15, 2006) – “Out of many, one people,” goes Jamaica’s official slogan, paying homage to the various interwoven cultures that have peacefully co-existed on the island’s sandy shores for centuries. This October, Grand Lido Braco Resort & Spa teams up with Caribbean Travel & Life and Islands magazines to celebrate this multiculturalism that is uniquely Jamaican at the resort’s fourth annual Best of Jamaica celebration, October 4-8, 2006.

The Best of Jamaica event is as diverse as the island’s varied cultures with themed entertainment and activities. During the festivities guests can tuck in at gastronomical galas serving intercultural cuisines, browse and shop the wares of local artisans at a daily marketplace, tune in to an eclectic mix of traditional performances by local dance troupes, and learn about Jamaica’s rich history and people through its folklore with readings by Poet Laureate, Amena Blackwood-Meeks.

Of course, no Best of Jamaica celebration would be complete without a thorough sampling of the iconic delights Jamaica is known for. Guests at this AAA four diamond resort can whet their appetites by learning to perfect Jamaica’s signature jerk chicken with local experts from three Jamaican spice purveyors (Walkerswood, Busha Browne and Grace Kitchens), and blend rum with rum experts. For cravings that go beyond food and drink, island lovers can learn about the healing power of herbs from the local bush doctor, pick up local slang at a patois class or test their rhythm on steel pan drums with local musicians.

Guests interested in exploring Jamaica’s natural wonders can join an optional off-property excursion on the Zion Bus to the White River Mountains and enjoy the lush scenery while river tubing down the rapids. Completing the cultural immersion is a visit to the Bob Marley Museum in Island Village to pay tribute to the master of Rasta.

Five-night packages for experiencing the Best of Jamaica at Grand Lido Braco start at $1,863 per couple, land only, and include $150 of spa credits per room and a deluxe Jamaican goodie bag, as well as all themed activities.

Caribbean Travel & Life and Islands magazines are offering a sweepstakes to win an all-expense paid trip for up to six people to Best of Jamaica. On-line entries will be accepted through August 28, 2006, at www.caribbeantravelmag.com/superclubs and www.islands.com/superclubs.

Set on 2,000 feet of white-sand beach on the north coast of Trelawny, the luxurious Grand Lido Braco, designed in the style of a Jamaican seaside village, features traditional Caribbean architecture, cobblestone streets, art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, cafés and a town square. Guests at Grand Lido Braco enjoy all the benefits of a super-inclusive vacation, including fine dining; 24-hour room service; unlimited premium cocktails; land and watersports, including equipment and instruction; complimentary golf at a choice of three greens, including two 18-hole championship courses; complimentary manicures and pedicures at the resort’s full-service spa; entertainment; airport transfers; and even dry cleaning. And as always at a SuperClubs resort, no tipping is allowed.
