Mexico’s Rivera Maya Jazz Festival set for November 22-25, 2006
Playa del Carmen to host the festival, which includes performances by Screaming Headless Torsos and Kool & the Gang
(October 3, 2006) – The fourth edition of the Rivera Maya Jazz Festival will bring jazz, R&B and funk artists to the beautiful beaches of Playa del Carmen for four nights of musical performances, from November 22 to 25, 2006.
The event has become a mainstay of the Riviera Maya’s musical scene, providing visitors with a great opportunity to enjoy musicians showcasing their talent against a backdrop of paradisal beaches. The closing concert of the festival will take place in one of the most exclusive hotels in Playa de Carmen, the Royal Porto Real.
This year’s program is as follows:
Wednesday, November 22: The festival inauguration starts with performances by jazz and funk music icon Screaming Headless Torsos with guitarist David Fucinzcky.
Thursday, November 23: Mint Condition will perform accompanied by Wet Paint.
Friday, November 24: Kool & the Gang, a legendary group with 30 years of great hits, will be accompanied by composer Tom Coster.
Saturday, November 25: A special tribute to the Beatles, performed by Tom Coster, Nacho Mendez and other special guests will close the festival.
