Virgin Atlantic launches direct service to Barbados
Aircraft used for the new service offers award-winning upper class amenities
(November 11, 2005) - Virgin Atlantic launches direct services between Manchester and Barbados on November 12, 2005. The weekly service will be operated by a Boeing 747-400 as part of the airline’s continued expansion drive. Virgin Atlantic currently flies to Orlando daily from Manchester.
Flight VS077 will depart from Manchester International Airport at 10:25am and arrive at Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados at 3:05pm. Returning flight VS078 will depart Barbados at 7:25pm and arrive in Manchester at 7:25am the following morning.
Virgin Atlantic’s Manchester fleet has recently been fitted with the award-winning upper class suite, which consists of a reclining leather seat for take off, a place to sit and eat a meal opposite your partner, the longest fully flat bed in the world with a proper mattress for sleeping on, a private onboard bar to drink at with your friends, and four limousines per return trip.
The aircraft flying from Manchester will be configured with 14 upper class seats, 58 premium economy seats, and 379 economy seats. All flights from Manchester have been operating with the upper class suite since May 2005.
Since being launched in November 2003, the upper class suite has won some of the industry’s most prestigious design awards: IF Design Awards, IF Product Design Award; Wallpaper Awards, Most Life Enhancing Item; D&AD Awards, Yellow Pencil (Silver Award) Product Design; IDEA Awards, IDEA Gold Award - Transport Design; FX Awards, Best Leisure Furniture Award; Design Week Awards, Best Industrial Product Design; ID Annual Review Awards, Best in Category – Furniture; and Red Dot Awards, Best of the Best of High Quality Design.
