United Airlines begins new service between Los Angeles and Cancun
Air service to begin March 2006
Chicago, Illinois, USA (January 23, 2006) – As part of its commitment to international service and continuing expansion in Mexico, United Airlines today announced new service between Los Angeles and Cancun. Subject to Mexican government approval, service begins March 4, 2006.
“We are pleased to further expand our service in Mexico just in time for spring travel,” says Greg Taylor, senior vice president of planning. “We are committed to providing our customers even more travel options to Mexico and we are hopeful that the Department of Transportation will approve our pending applications for additional Mexico service.”
The new weekly Saturday service between Los Angeles and Cancun will be provided on a United A320 aircraft. Beginning June 8, 2006, the service will increase to daily and be offered on Ted, which features low fares, economy plus seating with more legroom, Tedevision, TedSelect SnackBoxes and participation in United’s award-winning Mileage Plus program.
United recently received US Department of Transportation (DOT) approval to serve Los Angeles–Cancun. The company also applied to DOT for service between Chicago and Cancun.
United’s low-fare guarantee pledges that customers will find the lowest fares on their website. Customers will earn 1,000 bonus miles every time they purchase qualifying travel on their website and also may earn 500 bonus miles each time they check in for a United flight using EasyCheck-in Online before June 30, 2006. Together, these bonus mile offers enable customers to earn an additional 2,000 miles per flight.
