Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA (March 16, 2006) – Caribbean Sun Airlines expands its service between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic with the addition of its first-ever flights to Santo Domingo. The new service, which goes on sale March 20, 2006, for travel beginning July 19, 2006, includes eight daily non-stop flights offering convenient early-morning, mid-day and evening departures ideal for business travellers.
The 75-min flight leaves San Juan at 6:45am, 10:30am, 2:15pm and 5:45pm. Returning from Santo Domingo it leaves at 8:30am, 12:15pm, 5pm and 7:30pm.
New Caribbean Sun service to/from Santo Domingo will be flown with the carrier’s 37-seat DeHavilland Dash 8 series 100 aircraft. As is standard on all Caribbean Sun flights, in-flight service will be available to all passengers, including a choice of soft drinks and juices, as well as snacks.
William E “Skip” Barnette, president and CEO of both Caribbean Sun and its sister airline Caribbean Star, commented on the new service: “The Dominican Republic continues to grow in importance for us. Our service to Santiago was a good first step, and recently we opened a new call center just outside of Santo Domingo. We feel strongly about the great opportunity for growth here in the Dominican market, and we look forward to serving the people of this great country with the very best airline service in the skies for years to come.”
Caribbean Sun inaugurated service to/from Santiago, Dominican Republic, in December 2004. The carrier currently operates daily service between San Juan and Santiago.
