Playa del Carmen, Mexico (December 18, 2006) – Riviera Maya was honoured as the top destination in Mexico by Travel Weekly readers for a third consecutive year at the Annual Readers’ Choice Awards Gala and Dinner held on December 14, 2006 in New York City. In its fourth year, the black-tie event celebrated finalists in 51 categories, including destinations, hotels, airlines, tour operators, cruise lines and ships, theme parks and car rental services.
Award recipients were chosen by Travel Weekly readers first in an open ballet phase conducted this past summer, followed by a vote on the top finalists in each category that took place through October 21, 2006. All candidates represent the highest standards of service and excellence, as readers were asked to identify travel industry leaders that have demonstrated the most outstanding product and service over the past twelve months. More details on the Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards will be featured in Travel Weekly’s January 15, 2007 edition.
