(February 25, 2007) – The RIU chain will inaugurate its five-star Palace hotel on the Dutch-Caribbean island of Aruba in July 2007 after completely reforming and modernizing the resort, which they acquired two years ago.
The new 450-room Riu Palace Aruba is located right on the seafront in Palm Beach, considered one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular beaches, ideal for mid-depth scuba diving and snorkelling. Located just 10 kilometres from the airport, the resort will have two buildings: one with 10 storeys and the other with eight.
Riu Palace Aruba will offer a wide array of culinary options including theme restaurants featuring international specialities, local cuisine, grill/steakhouse, gourmet restaurant, Japanese cuisine and Italian cuisine, as well as a number of bars with different atmospheres.
The resort boasts a range of outdoor and sport activities, a gymnasium, sauna, daytime entertainment programme for adults, live music and admission to the casino.
RIU has 13,380 rooms in 28 Caribbean establishments, including nine in the Dominican Republic, two in Cuba, 12 in Mexico, three in Jamaica, one in The Bahamas and the Riu Palace Aruba mentioned above. The chain began operating in the Caribbean in 1991 with the inauguration of the Riu Taíno in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
