Nevis, West Indies (May 2, 2007) – This summer, while the thermometer rises at home, Montpelier Plantation Inn on Nevis – one of the Caribbean’s most secluded retreats – extends an invitation to fly south and cool down. Savour the refreshingly cool Caribbean breezes that sweep across the island while soaking up the property’s tranquil charm for longer, and for less, with Montpelier’s new 5th Night Free Summer Special.
With the 5th Night Free Summer Special, guests enjoy one complimentary night, including breakfast and afternoon tea “on the house,” when booking a stay of at least four nights. This summer special is valid May 1 through October 31, 2007 on new bookings only. Room rates begin at $380 from May 1-31, 2007 and $280 from June 1–October 31, 2007.
Known for its quiet elegance, refined charm and personal service, Montpelier Plantation Inn is a secluded retreat catering to discerning travellers. One of the newest members of Relais & Chateaux, this intimate and charming hideaway is owned and managed by the Hoffman family. Years of living in Europe, Asia, The Bahamas and America experiencing various cultures and traditions have led the Hoffmans to create a refined yet relaxed atmosphere that immediately makes their guests feel at ease, as if among friends and family. Nestled amongst 30 acres of landscaped gardens and dotted with pieces from the family’s private furniture collection, décor throughout the property is classical “island elegance.”
Montpelier offers 17 well appointed guest rooms, including one suite, each with canopy or four-poster beds complemented by luxurious Porthault linens, and private verandas affording commanding views of the Caribbean Sea and surrounding countryside. Awash in tranquillity, there are no televisions, radios or clocks in the guest rooms, fresh fruit and flowers are provided in-room daily and the resort’s professional and attentive staff ensures that guests are well cared for.
Free from the daily distractions and hectic pace of modern living, and with relaxation in mind, guests can spend their days enjoying Montpelier’s cool hillside setting with the exquisite hand-laid 60 foot mosaic-tiled pool, manicured gardens, reading gazebo, tennis court and complimentary afternoon tea, or Montpelier by the Sea, the hotel’s private two-acre beach located a short distance away complete with sun gazebos and barman. A host of other activities can be arranged.
In the evening, guests can choose between Montpelier’s two gourmet restaurants: the AAA Four Diamond Terrace restaurant overlooking the nightlights of Charlestown and nearby St Kitts, and The Mill, a small and intimate restaurant located in the plantation’s original 18th century sugar mill. While each restaurant features different prix fixe menus, both use locally grown produce, fruit and herbs from the hotel’s gardens, freshly caught fish, Montpelier-raised pigs and European ingredients flown in as needed, and draw upon the hotel’s extensive wine cellar to create unforgettable dining experiences. Prior to dinner each evening guests are invited to gather in the Great Room for canapés, drinks and comfortable conversation.
In 2005 Montpelier Plantation Inn was rated the number two luxury hotel in the Caribbean in the 2005 Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice Awards. It was also ranked #33 in the Top 100 Luxury – World list. Ratings are compiled based on user reviews and ratings.
