American Airlines increases service to St Kitts

Airline to operate five flights per week between Miami and St Kitts

Basseterre, St Kitts (January 27, 2006) – American Airlines’ winter service to St Kitts, consisting of five roundtrip flights per week between Miami, Florida and St Kitts, will continue through September 4, 2006, then again from October 29, 2006, onward, announced the St Kitts Tourism Authority. The five flights will operate on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. From September 5 to October 28, 2006, American Airlines will operate three roundtrip flights per week, operating on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Prior to daylight savings time, which takes effect on April 2, 2006, American Airlines flight #2299 departs Miami at 11:10am arriving into St Kitts at 3pm. The return flight #2280 departs St Kitts at 4:14pm arriving into Miami at 6:37pm. Beginning April 2, 2006, flight #2299 departs Miami at 11:02am arriving into St Kitts at 1:53pm, while flight #2280 departs St Kitts at 3:19pm arriving into Miami at 6:30pm. American Airlines uses a 142-seat, 737-800 aircraft with 16 first class seats and 126 economy seats for these flights.

“We could not be more pleased that American Airlines will offer five flights per week through the summer,” says Richard O Skerritt, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture. “With five flights per week, visitors will have more flexibility in planning their trip to the island during the times that we will be hosting major events, such as the India vs West Indies cricket One-Day International Match on May 24, the cricket Test Match from June 21-26 and the St Kitts Music Festival, June 29-July 2. There will be more flight options available for event attendees.”
