Description:
Golden Rock Hotel is located on the edge of the rainforest and was built 1801 from lava stone as a sugar plantation which offers very peaceful, natural surroundings and complete relaxation. Golden Rock has its own nature trail that goes into the surrounding rainforest. Mahoe, Breadfruit, Yellow Prickle and Silk Cotton are typical examples of the trees. A free shuttle service is provided to the capital city of Charlestown and also to two beach properties: Pinney's Beach 4 miles long has a beach restaurant and bar. The second beach is on the Windward Coast and offers body surfing, fishing boats and bird watching. Other facilities at Golden Rock include: a retreat from technology (no TV in your room), extensive exotic gardens, 30 min. nature walk and hiking trails, wild velvet monkeys to watch. There is a library and reading lounges, a free shuttle to beach and town, a 50 foot pool, 2 restaurants at lunch, baby-sitters available on request and a concierge desk to book activities.
ROOMS
You can choose to stay in one of 7 pastel colored cottages staggered across the fertile slopes of Gingerland. The bright fan-cooled interiors are decorated with pineapple friezes, hand-carved mahogany furniture, island crafts, antique prints and family heirlooms, sisal mats atop white tile floors and bamboo or mahogany four poster beds, some of which are canopied. Some of the Nevis style showers without tubs have sky-lights. All rooms have large porches with views of the sea. A smaller stone cottage by reception lies closest to the facilities, and the bi-level Sugar Mill Suite with a combination bath is private enough for honeymooners and big enough for families of four or five. The Sugar Mill is one of the most enchanting accommodations in the Caribbean. Glass shuttered windows allow plenty of breezes and sunlight. The Sugar Mill is the sort of tower that would have made Rapunzel think twice about being rescued. Just sitting on the porch, you can enjoy reading or taking in the view of the three islands in the distance: Redonda, Montserrat and Antigua
