New Plymouth Inn
Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, The Bahamas
(242) 365-4161
The New Plymouth Inn is a painstakingly restored colonial inn in the heart of New Plymouth, a storybook village that sits on the semi-tropical island of Green Turtle Cay in Abaco, an island archipelago that is part of the Bahamas.
Established by Loyalists in 1783, the settlement may look like a New England village in years gone by, but the island offers magnificent beaches, diving, fishing, snorkeling and boating that can be enjoyed year-round.
The Inn takes you back to a time of another century where flowering bougainvillea, handsomely decorated guest rooms and gingerbread architecture combine in an atmosphere of quiet surroundings. A hammock by the swimming pool is an open invitation to relax with a good book. Or you can rent a boat, hire a fishing guide or just explore the town.
The intimate, island ambience carries over into the lounge and restaurant where guests gather for drinks, conversation and superb cuisine. Congenial hosts serve breakfast and dinner daily as well as a special Sunday brunch.
The town combines an old world legacy of clapboard houses and narrow streets with small grocery stores, restaurants, shops and historic sights, including an excellent museum. And in the evenings a walk after dinner can lead to a quiet dock under starry skies or a nightcap at an island bar.
