Curacao's Playa Kalki Was Nominated for Travel and Leisure's 'Best Beach for Active Travelers'
Popular for snorkeling and diving, Curacao's Playa Kalki was nominated in Travel + Leisure Magazine's Best Beaches survey 2012 as the Best Beach for Active Travelers!
Located on Curacao's west coast, the beach is considered one of the island's most attractive and ideal for travelers with more than sunbathing in mind. The quiet cove is home to a reef divers have dubbed "Alice in Wonderland" due to its labyrinth quality. Plenty of fish make their home these waters and it's not uncommon to spot stingrays and dolphins in this unique dive spot.
Hundreds voted for Curacao's beautiful Playa Kalki beach to win in its category. Voting closed on October 31. May Curacao's Playa Kalki win Travel + Leisure Magazine's Best Beach for Active Travelers!
The Race Is On In Curacao!
On November 3 cycling fans will flock to Curacao for the islands' 11th Annual Amstel Curacao Race. With a challenging 73.6km (45.7 miles) course encompassing a series of mountain climbs and downhill sprints, the Amstel Curacao Race is the only bike race where amateur cyclists can line up against Tour de France professionals, and is known worldwide as the closing event of the street-cycling season.
Of course in Curacao, the Caribbean island known as much for its candy colored architecture and vibrant nightlife as it is for its picturesque beaches, the race itself comes at the end of five days of celebrations including an evening of water games to the sounds of a live DJ, a Pasta Party at Mambo beach for racers looking to do some carb-loading, a beach tug-of-war contest, Bubbles on the Beach at Zest and of course the infamous closing party at Mambo Beach after the race.
This year the 5 day event will also include an Olympic Party on Friday, November 2, the night before the race which will set the scene as the island welcomes back home-grown athletic superstar Churandy Martina who competed in the finals of the 100m and 200m track events at this year's London Olympics. Martina will officially kick off the race that starts at 11am on Saturday November 3 at the Lions Dive & Beach Resort.
There is still time to register for the race online at www.amstelCuracaorace.com and last minute registrations can also be made onsite at the Lions Dive Resort where rooms are still available between October 30 and November 4.

Did You Know
There is an uninhabited island eight miles off the southeast coast of Curacao named "Little Curacao," or Klein Curacao. Home to Curacao's longest and whitest beach, Klein Curacao's shore is covered in soft white sand and is surrounded by crystal clear water, but there is little shade.
Dive operators and charter boats take passengers out to the oversized volcanic rock for beach parties, cookouts, and fantastic diving.
The northeastern side of this miniature island is known for having calm water with gentle waves. If you want to go, check with dive operators or sailboat charters offering trips featuring snorkeling, refreshments and usually a picnic or barbecue lunch.
Bounty Adventures Curacao offers wonderful boat trips to Klein Curacao and they are the only catamaran charters on the island. Bounty Adventures offers trips daily to Klein (little) Curacao, romantic Sunset Sails or half day Sail and Snorkel adventures!
Their fleet consists of two custom built 54ft 'State of the art' sailing catamarans, the Jonalisa and the Jonalisa To plus a 48ft luxurious motor yacht. Our heavy duty high speed catamaran (up to25 knots under sail or power) takes you fast and comfortably to Klein Curacao.
This beautiful Island offers you an Adventure that you cannot miss!
