Athletes vie for $10,000 cash prize at 3rd annual event November 18, 2007

ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands, October 17, 2007 ? Triathletes from around the world will gather at the beautiful Buccaneer hotel in St. Croix on November 18 to compete in the 3rd annual Caribbean Classic Triathlon. This exciting Olympic distance race will take place on the resort¡¯s expansive grounds, and will feature a 1,641-yard swim off The Buccaneer¡¯s Mermaid Restaurant, followed by a 25-mile bike race along a scenic loop and a 6.2-mile run on verdant jogging trails.
The competition is open to professional and amateur athletes?USVI residents and visitors alike?and includes fun pre- and post-race functions for registered participants, including a welcome reception and an awards ceremony and lunch. At stake are cash prizes for overall male and female winners, as well winners in each age group, with a $10,000 pro purse and $5,000 in cash for Caribbean competitors.
Spectators will find plenty of places to enjoy the fast-paced action on The Buccaneer¡¯s lush property. And in celebration of the occasion, the hotel will offer a 25% discount for guests participating in the race with special rates beginning at $200 per night, including breakfast.
