Kanopi House is dedicated to low impact luxury.
The six acre estate is situated in the Blue Lagoon District off the coast of the Cognoscenti in Portland, Jamaica. In the midst of a tropical jungle full of vines, 100-foot Banyan trees, soaring bamboo plants, and flowering magenta ginger lilies; an elegant, environmentally conscious oasis consisting of five natural wood bungalows links down a winding path that slices through the
sun dappled rain forest to overlook the Caribbean Sea. Welcome to Kanopi.
Kanopi's peak roof bungalows are one and two bedroom. Accented in local artwork and textiles, each tree-house displays a lounge area that is separated from a sheltered veranda by French doors that open to allow the outside in. Indoor and outdoor showers are also available. Each kitchen is fully stocked with cold drinks, light snacks, good wine and Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Rooms are equipped with Bose sound with i-Pods full of international music.
Kanopi House has been approved by the National Environmental Planning Agency as an eco-friendly, low impact, organic, and green villa that treads gently upon the earth. Local and handcrafted artwork and furnishings are produced from renewable Jamaican materials. No trees were harmed to design Kanopi House. Buildings were adjusted to accommodate the natural landscape, where, in some cases, trees simply go through the roof.
Meals are prepared with an emphasis on local, seasonal, traditional and organic ingredients. Fresh greens and herbs are home grown from Kanopi's mountain garden. Menus may be tailored to suit your preference. Vegan, vegetarian and meat lovers are all welcome.
Spend your days lounging by the lagoon, snorkeling by the reefs, kayaking through the calm turquoise waters, swimming to Monkey Island, or simply relaxing in the midst of tropical beauty. The elegant open air Great Room is the perfect place to lounge away an afternoon. Enjoy panoramic ocean views, carved mahogany daybeds, art, culture, food, exotic reading, and an open bar. Guests also gather here for dining. Staff is always available to attend to desires for coffee, cocktails and canapés. More active types may wish to arrange water sport excursions. Staff is happy to arrange anything guests may yearn for; from sailing trips to hang-gliding, fishing or scuba diving.
